So Long Charles Green (Part 3) – Rangers Shares Up 10%!

So, he has finally gone!

The BBC is reporting that Sandy Easdale, brother of Rangers Director James Easdale, has agreed to exercise his option to buy Mr Green’s shares, and therefore become, as he says, the largest shareholder in Rangers.

“Between my family holdings and through other supporting investors I now have the largest shareholding in Rangers Football Club,” he said.

“There has been continued speculation and constant enquiries to buy this largest holding in Rangers. But Mr Green gave me the first option which I exercised.”

(It might be churlish and pedantic to say this, but he is the largest shareholder in Rangers International Football Club PLC, not Rangers Football Club.)

Mr Green was quoted as saying:-

“Over the last few months numerous individuals and corporate bodies have expressed interest in obtaining my shares although much of this was to solicit press coverage and attract attention,” said Green via a statement.

“Sandy said he would buy them and he has. I knew he would and he will do what’s best for Rangers now he has a more substantial percentage.

“I want to make it clear that this means I will have no ongoing influence or financial interest at the club but I remain a fan and fervently hope that Rangers will soon be back at the top where they belong.”

One wonders what price Mr Green got for the shares as today’s opening was 46p and when I last looked they had risen to 51p!

One also wonders how, being “locked in” till December he has actually sold the shares.

Well, I am sure we will get an announcement to the Stock Exchange soon which will make it all clear.

And as for Charles Green – who can forget the big hands, the champion sprinter, the Dallas Cowboys and Adidas and Nike…

Who can avoid shedding a tear at the thought that he won’t get to hear the Champions League theme song at Ibrox?

Who can feel anything but sympathy for a man forced out from the business he saved, with only the consolation of a few million pounds to take away the pain…

Farewell Charlie – we hardly knew you (although Ecojon had you right from the minute you appeared!)

  1. I would have thought the sale of the major shareholder’s stake would have required an RNS before it was made public via news outlets. Since, as you have shown, it can materially affect the share price. Still nothing on that front.

    • Steerpike

I hate to say but I told you so, the war is over, the spivs lost and share prices do not rise for an unworkable business model.

I am going to hang about just in case Phil pops in to apologize for guessing wrong and calling me nasty names…..where is Ian, the financial genius who cannot find youtube, you tube.

I just love being right all the time.

  2. mick

Bye mister green but what are you doing with all the shares in the subdijurie company’s you made up when u chopped up the carcuss of old toxic co you imran and Brian are well at it would you care to tell the sevcoians how much u get of the back of 1 shirt sale and what else you own out with the shares and how you came about it and what gave you the right to ?????

    • Monti

How much of Charlie’s windfall is due to Craig Whyte the Mick?

      • mick

Did whyte not get to keep the deeds Monti lol since there is 30 mil vapourised since whyte installed green most crooks operate 50 50 impairs so a would say 15 mil easy lol stashed in BVI in a crooked bank account lol

        • Steerpike

” Did whyte not get to keep the deeds ”

Yes mick, CW has the deeds, CG has the deeds, Ticketus has the deeds, TRFC has the deeds and RIFC plc has the deeds, all perfectly normal, why do you ask ?

    • cam

Gordon Durie was subbed a few times but we never chopped him up.

    • Steerpike

Someone please explain to Mick and Monti what this means:

“I want to make it clear that this means I will have no ongoing influence or financial interest at the club but I remain a fan and fervently hope that Rangers will soon be back at the top where they belong.”

      • mick

Then u explain why green is a director inmost of the subsidiaries or do u just still believe what the sevco news says as it was in msm so it must be gospel lol head in the sand lol really is the main phrase to did rive your mind set lol

        • Steerpike

          mick,

Prove to me CG is still a director of any active company associated with Rangers, then I will have a look at it. You lot think it is perfectly legal for a director of one company to set up another company to siphon off money, it is not. What do you think CW is suing CG for ?

Just all over the place clutching at straws.

Where is CW, Ticketus, Octopus, Zeus and all the other fantasy conspirators ?

This blog will be gone by Christmas, nothing left to fantasize about.

          • OldFirm 1

Your new club will be insolvent by Xmas. There will be no institutional Santas to bail you out and The Easdales will need time to address an innovation at Die Brox, namely paying VAT. I’m sure their bus company accounts included VAT. Oh dear, it would seem that one of the Easdales went to prison for VAT fraud. I’m sure an ex-con will passes the SFA director test. All that takes is a third-degree handshake with EBT Ogilvie

  3. mick

What about the subdijuries he owns shares in lol gone yes but still raking it in via the back ground him Brian and imran what a team

  4. His antics made me smile and he nearly always made me laugh when he opened his mouth. But the money he and Duff and Phelps made was really from all those creditors who were cheated, in my opinion, out of whatever could have been salvaged out of Oldco’s assets, at the very least £ 80 million, that irritates me no end.
BTW what happens with the BDO investigation, is Chuckles still in the firing line or has he dodged a bullet? Or have I got the wrong end of the stick again?

    • Steerpike

” out of whatever could have been salvaged out of Oldco’s assets, at the very least £ 80 million,…
      ——————————————————————————————–

I estimate closer to 150 million if you include the Casino and Spa resort.

  6. jim62

Since I assume Mr Green to be an honourable man then I must also assume he was at Ibrox on a recent evening watching the Champions League on the telly!!!!

  7. Eric Smiff

Charles Green bought assets worth £110m for just £1.5m

THE price paid by Charles Green for Rangers included a £1.5million fire sale for Ibrox Stadium, Murray Park and the club’s valuable car park.

And when Sir David Murray sold the club to Craig Whyte two years ago, he had the same land, bricks and mortar assets valued at £110 MILLION.

How much did Sandy the gangster pay Green ?

Where’s the polis when you need them. ? Or the politicians or the judges ?

What a dirty wee country we live in.

  8. Frankier

Paul, what about another airing of Requiem for the Croppies in memory of Mr Heaney.

  9. Maggie

    @Paul Mc
Are you really, really sure that Chico is gone for good Paul? I don’t want to start mourning prematurely. He broke my heart the last twice he left, only to
resuscitate it on his return.I can’t go through that “roller coaster of emotions” ( well,if everyone in the Daily Mail can be roller coasting, then so can I 🙂 ) again,I just haven’t got the stamina for it again.

Oh,another little observation while I’m here……Is there some sort of dungeon room where Mr The Hutt uses his Manchurian candidate skills to instil the mantra : ” back at the top, where they/we belong/deserve to be”
Every single person who has, or had,a fleeting connection to the dead Rangers and the current Sevco churns it out on a daily basis.
You know,me too Mr The Hutt,I can’t wait until you get what you deserve either. Such fun 🙂

  10. JimBhoy

    Messi:
‘It looks an even group and there are some very nice games. We played Celtic last season and know AC Milan very well and Ajax have a great history.

‘It’s a beautiful group and I’m looking forward to some great games in the competition.’

    • willy wonka

Jim, looks like your board aren’t too confident of the deranged ones turning up.
3 of Europes top teams [and sellik] in a group and you can buy a 3 match package for £84 ?
Mothers Day ? School uniforms ? What will be the excuse this time ?
Lol. Maybe time to put in an order for another big banner and cover up more huge spaces ?

      • JimBhoy

@WW what was the attendance midweek at Ibrox mate? Let me tell ya, 16,097….According to sportinglife 58,000 watched CELTIC beat the sheep murderers… What’s rangers excuse?

        • willy wonka

Jim, are you seriously trying to compare a vital European qualifier with a minor league game ?
Jesus, for one home game the faiffool bother to attend a match and get more fans than Rangers did and you’re up on the roof crowing about it ?
Tell you what, come back to me at seasons end and we’ll compare [actual, not made up] home attendances. Eh ?

          • willy wonka
are you sure you will be there next year
            HAIL HAIL
under what name? if any tick tock tick tock

          • Fra

Crowing Willy. That was what you have based their superiority on the last two seasons since you died. We’ve got more fans than you while the spivs said ‘roll up, roll up, and fill my big hands with all your lovely lucre. Guffaw guffaw guffaw. Lol lol lol. Hee hee hee.

Lots of rage and obsession still going on with the Gers.
The bhoys are through to earn some dosh despite the awfy pumpings about to unfold, the next 10 titles are a dead cert, the cooncil has tarted up the midden and still all this anger.
Lenny’s raging at Gary.Monti’s raging at Sally,Lenny’s raging at ITV,fandan’s raging at me,Gort’s just raging 24/7.
The Rangers shares are rocketing, the investors are happy, the Easdales are coining it in with Celtic fans having to use their taxi’s and buses, they have off the oscilloscope wealth, the illegal embargo is nearly finished,we’re closing in on a cup that Celtic can never have a hope in hell of winning.
What a great day to be a land owning pwoud son of William, knowing that everywhere you look that it belongs to the Protestant community.

    • JimBhoy

@Cam “we’re closing in on a cup that Celtic can never have a hope in hell of winning.” Quote of the day without a shadow of a doubt mate.. 🙂

      • cam

Just think if we win the Ramsdens cup how much the programme will be worth,,,what an heirloom to pass down.
We could get three brass balls to go beside the 5 stars!

    • kerrygirl

no cant agree, what about the holy city of Croy

      • cam

        Do you stay there Kerry?

        Can i be your Paris?
        I’m not scared of Hector.
I don’t have an Achilles heel.

        • Kerrygirl

You don’t want to take on the Crojans ,,,,, trust me ,,The camster the queer dyke et al would have to sneak out of town in a wooden rocking horse

I should tell you though that I’ve taken his poor, much put upon good lady, Morag under my wing, got her out from under his orange spell, and shown her how much fun it is to have actual pals.
You’ll like her Kerry, she’s a lovely person, she just didn’t have our advantages in life AND she married the camster, talk about double whammy of nae luck. 🙂

        • Kerrygirl

But I bet you’ve got athletes foot

    • Steven Brennan

      Afternoon Cammy bhoy
I am glad i don’t live near you, with all the landowning protestors, and who owns any land in Govan apart from green and Whyte.

      • cam

Seven of Eight,i hope you’re well this fine day.
I would rent you a few acres and we could make a killing off of the sheep trade to Kazakhstan.
I’ll hold the buggers still and you can inseminate them.

    • willy wonka

@cam , “obsession” doesn’t begin to cover it.
Phone calls were made to Finbar O’Reilly at GCC and the inspectors were sent over to Ibrox today to carry out an inspection re “safety concerns”.
Did they think I was telling lies when I said our 5 star stadium had very recently been given a clean bill of health ?
Nothing to see here Paddy. Move along. Lol.

Is the gaffer not going to do a blog on why the SFA are closing the transfer window early [just as Rangers transfer embargo is lifted] ?

With apologies to a real legend and a brilliant songwriter………

    Goodbye Charlie green
Is it true your times blown by
Like a candle in a Forfar wind
And it seems to me you spent your time
Like a raider in a bank
Always knowing how to crack the safe
    And the cas poured in
The cash will run out long before
    Your legend ever will…….

  21. robertg

Re the Champions’ League music, maybe Chico watched the Hoops defeat the mighty Kazaks on the telly in Asbestox, heard the music and decided he had fulfilled his promise? If the lady that sings on the CL theme tune in any way portly? That would be a nice touch.
